Boom Mustang    -    Big Bull Edition

Well here's DOT's replacement.   A Boom, made in Germany, with a two litre Peugeot engine and a six speed auto box.  So far I'm impressed with it.  Performance-wise it's better than DOT, but I have a feeling that when it comes to attempting to do any work on it, I'll miss the simplicity of DOT, but we'll worry about that when the time comes.   I've not yet tried towing the Dog Kennel, mainly because I can't yet physically maul it out of the garage, I have a feeling that it will be sometime next year before I'm able to use the Dog Kennel again.  In August 2025 I managed to tow the trailer tent down to Porlock for a few days, so that's a step in the right direction.

One of the first things I had to get was a new battery, a bit awkward to fit seeing as it's fitted under the front of the rider's seat.  The next little niggle was the extreme heat we had this Summer - this caused the glue holding the stainless steel trim plates to soften, and I lost the left hand "heel trim plate".  The plates on the dummy tank were also in danger of coming off.  Some industrial strength 3M tape took care of the ones on the tank, and I also added some 3mm stainless steel pins to the trim on the bodywork.

The next thing I needed was a pair of rear tyres - well I had done just under 7000 miles on the tyres that were fitted, which I presumed were the original.  Sadly the only tyres I could get at the time were Michelin at around £400 each - on the positive side, these tyres will hopefully last as long as the originals - and the trike will be doing fewer miles once I'm ( hopefully ) back on two wheels.
